(Michelle) Did I miss something in religious ed.? I don’t remember ever being told when Mary’s birthday was, but in Greece it is on August 15 and it is a national holiday. So while all the tourist stuff is still open, our 4 kilo walk in blazing heat to a real grocery store was a wasted effort. As was our attempt to once again enter the Bank of Greece to try to get rid of that Romanian Lei, which as it turns out is not really wanted by currency exchange places in Greece either. The Lei is really unloved.
That night we sat along one of the really touristy old town sidewalk bars that night for a couple of beers. We ordered what appeared to be a medium sized beer from the menu, it turns out the picture is quite deceiving. This beer might be half as tall as I am. We met some extremely friendly (drunk), cute and young
Norwegian girls on holiday who might have picked the wrong island for their vacation. They were trying really hard to get anybody walking by to join them and they were getting turned down left and right. I think there are more couples and families on this island… perhaps Mykanos would have been a better choice. TJ couldn’t believe his misfortune on not having walked by this when he was still single.
A Journal of our Travels
We were living in Chicago until we decided it was time to branch out. See our entries below to find out where we are now...
