Rhodes, Greece – 08/16 – 08/17

(Michelle) These two days we took public city buses to each side of the island to see some ruins. Lindos and Kaminos. All of these ruins are from about 400 B.C. and they are quite massive. Once again, we could feel free to do whatever we wanted to the ruins (not that we did anything bad). They were totally out there for you to touch and hang out on. Lindos was an important town back in the day and the Acropolis of Lindos (like a mini Athen’s Acropolis) is on top of a huge cliff overlooking the Ocean. Below the ruins at Lindos, there is a huge popular beach area where you can rent chairs. That is where TJ was working on his oranging. The ruins at Kaminos are massive and they represent a whole community, not just the Acropolis. There are remains of houses, baths, water supply routes, temples. It is also pretty high up and while not right on the water like Lindos, there is still a cool Ocean view here. We picked the wrong restaurant for lunch near Kaminos, where we had our ONLY bad meal in Greece. I’ve decided I like some Greek food now (I didn’t think I did before). I don’t think I will go for the Gyros yet, but Souvlaki, Soutzoukakia and Moussaka are alright by me.
Because of TJ’s bad karma, we will almost inevitably get the worst seat or be the only ones standing or whatever on any bus we take anywhere. This holds true to now and we just shrug our shoulders and laugh when it happens. On the bus back from Kaminos, TJ was the only one standing the whole hot ride.
All the stop signs on the roads here are in English…. I guess there are more tourist renting cars here than locals driving on the streets.
There are little kitties running around everywhere here. TJ loves all his new little furry friends. I am making a separate photo album of TJ and all his kitties when we return.
